January through to March: the months of post-Christmas blues, short daylight hours, and officially the most depressing day of the year.
So, it’s not surprising that many people find themselves day-dreaming of their next holiday in the sun. And to honour the whims and wishes of these budding travellers, we’re taking a look at some of the best travel adverts from over the past year.
Thomas Cook’s Dancing Whizz Kid
If this cute kid throwing shapes doesn’t get you in the holiday mood, we’re not quite sure what will. So, what’s the thought process behind this wickedly cute advert, that only says two words: ‘be bold’ amongst the heavy beats of Tam Cooper’s rapping.
“It’s all about making sure you get everything out of your holiday that you want to. When you take a break from the norm, you can be whoever you want to be and do exactly what you want to do. Why? Because you’re on holiday.”
Sounds like our kind of holiday to us, but maybe the messaging could be clearer in reflecting the thought process behind their ‘be bold’ idea.
TravelSupermarket’s #HolidayLikeAGerman
The age-old stereotype of German holidaymakers comes to life in TravelSupermarket’s latest advert. Using the hashtag, #HolidayLikeAGerman, TravelSupermarket are encouraging their customers to utilise their brand new smart holiday planning tools. The tools allow users to save all of the best deals they’ve found so far, in their virtual suitcase – pretty nifty.
Discover Hong Kong
For a while, Hong Kong was only a stop-off point for travellers and those on business, who were journeying to other parts of Asia. Little did they know that HK was and is a hub of culture, excitement and adventure just waiting to be explored. So, when we were given a brief to create a site that inspired more people to holiday in HK, we couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
To achieve this, we got to work creating an easy to navigate site that offered-up plenty of inspirational content, including travel guides, handy tips and videos.
First Choice, All-Inclusive Choice
With the strapline, life’s too short to say no, First Choice amplify their all-inclusive message by physically getting a woman to follow her heart’s desire, which unsurprisingly comes in the form of an ice cream van.
From diving into a lake and resurfacing from a pool in the middle of an exotic land, First Choice really hammer home the true benefits of an all-inclusive holiday; you really can have your cake and eat it.
So, from chefs flambeing delicious treats to a hoard of waiters serving up an array of mouthwatering sundaes, this adreally emphasises why you should ditch the wintery chill of Jan and Feb and start planning your next big adventure. We have to admit, we’re more than a little tempted.
