We’ve just returned from our big ten year anniversary adventure to the summit of Snowdon – and we’re happy to say we all made it!
A big thank you to everyone who donated on our JustGiving page, we really appreciate every penny.
Here’s what happened on our mountain climb…
After lots of planning, a bit of training, and a magical mini-bus ride, we arrived at Park Resort’s Ty Mawr holiday park ready to tackle the peak the following day. We fuelled up with some fish and chips, and then even fitted in some some bonus training with an unexpected 2 mile walk to the beach.
On the morning of the big day (after some much-needed bacon sarnies) we headed to the foot of Snowdon… and thankfully the sun had his hat on! We chose to take the Miner’s Track up the mountain, and after a few ‘before’ photos, we were on the way. The start was gentle, but things soon got rocky with some real clambering and climbing – but thankfully, Iain provided more than enough chocolate Mini-Rolls to keep us going. And of course, we had a lot of photo stops… Fred brought a selection of three different cameras, and Theo had a whole photography studio in his backpack. Needless to say, we have a lot of snaps!
The weather held out, and finally we made it to the top… success! Alison cracked open the champagne for us all, and after a few swigs it was celebration time (we’d saved our sandwiches for the summit).
We spent some time admiring the amazing view, then we rolled back down the mountain and towards the pub for pizza and a pint. Well deserved!
All in all it was definitely a successful Rawww adventure, and the perfect way to raise a bit of money for a great local cause while celebrating our big ten year anniversary. Currently we’ve raised almost £1000 for Zoё’s Place in the Midlands, a fantastic result and nearly twice our goal amount. Again, thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
It’s safe to say there are a few achy legs in the office this week – but we’ve got the hiking bug, and there’s already talk of round 2! Watch this space for more mountain adventures…
