As a design agency, we relish the challenge of creating a whole new look, feel and communication strategy for businesses who want more from their brand. With ActOn Finishing, we were able to do all this and more.
This dynamic company has already made a positive impact in the finishing and manufacturing industry – and they needed a look to match. Due to their very specific, yet varied range of products, they wanted to communicate their services in a clear, concise and simple way. They also wanted a fresh new look that portrayed who they are and which made them stand out from their competition.
ActOn Finishing cover a lot of ground; not only do they provide finishing of metal and materials, they also manufacture the machines for their clients and offer a tailored, bespoke service with the machines for individual customer’s needs too. Supplying and creating consumables that have the exact finish people need for a variety of finishes is another important service. Above all, they are the only company in the UK who manufacture machines of this kind, which is an extremely strong selling point.
After a series of initial meetings where we really got to know the company and what they wanted for their brand, we set to work. Here’s what we looked at:

Rebranding ActOn Finishing was a fantastic creative challenge for our team. We were so inspired by their approach. Not only did they adapt their products and services to fulfill and suit their customers’ needs, they had a ‘nothing is impossible’ approach that is perfectly reflected in the copy throughout the website and beyond. The product photography fits well too. And, having taken the time to research the company as much as possible, we designed a striking set of visuals that reflect the shape of the consumables which help create the finish of the product.
Even the logo follows the same shapes, and the division of different finishing applications via coloured tabs works so well too. Both established and new customers will find everything they need on their fully accessible website, which adapts and works across a multitude of multimedia platforms. High impact photography of their products with certain products set against bold reds or striking yellows, makes all the difference and helps the products stand out as well. And, although there is a lot of detail content-wise, it’s easy to understand and read.
And, as you can see here, our before and after photos really show the full effect of the new re-brand on their website… Doesn’t it look great?
With such a strong new look, ActOn Finishing wanted to ensure everyone in the company understood the rebrand too, which is why we also created a ‘brand book’ that staff and other agencies could use as a reference for their brand – from how to design a letter to the tone of voice of the company, we had it covered. Easy to refer to and simple to read, it has everything staff need to ensure they’re on the right lines when it comes to reflecting what the company offers.
A new corporate brochure was a must too. Perfect for handing out at industry events or to future clients, it includes all the information needed on products (from vibratory bowls to dryers), sharp design, beautiful photography, in-depth, yet easy to understand copy details on the industries ActOn Finishing works with, their after sales offering, other services such as waste water treatment and so much more.
It is early days, but the feedback has already been so positive and we expect even more great reactions as more and more customers become aware of ActOn Finishing’s re-brand – especially when they see the van livery visuals on the streets! Finished in the same stunning new design, their vans create a striking impact as they deliver their goods to customers up and down the country and for us, it was great to have such a varied design to complete.
